Newbie - Plugin question

I am fairly new to Photoshop. I use version 8. I use the dreamy plugin which works fine for me. I recently downloaded 2 new plugins (a lens blur and gothic glow). I put them in the "Plugins" file but when I open Photoshop I don't see them anywhere. When I click directly on the plugin it just opens photoshop. What am I doing wrong?
