Well first I guess I will tell you exactly what I am trying to do, I'm using this guide http://www.photoshopnerds.com/2006/03/page/2/# to try to make it look like a dog is being hatched from an egg, rather than a baby. But when I try to cut the top of the egg and put it into a new layer, I get the message "could not make a new layer from the selection because the selected area is empty." The area, obviously, is not empty, and FYI the only layer I have selected while attempting to cut the top of the egg using the lasso tool is the egg itself, all other layers are hidden, although I have also tried with all layers activated.
Help, anyone?
