I recently got myself Photoshop CS2, and am having some minor difficulties with the most mundane option - texts. As far as I'm concerned, the normal situation for text... Would be that you simply have to click, then begin typing. However, when I got it... It requires me to make a box in order to type.

As you can see, I wasn't kidding. That's the box. If I simply 'click', it'll make - as you probably know - just a small one. Took me a while to notice that, mind you; I thought my keys were just being ridiculous when I began to type.

Now, not only isn't it making a box - even if I hate the box, it's only a small issue compared to the fact... That the text doesn't even go inside the box. If you look very closely at one of the positioning blocks on the top left, you'll see that the | that appears before you start typing is actually in there. A bit too small of a text to be worthwhile, eh?

Hoping you guys can help me with this, and tell me how I can possibly change this to normal "click" format. I appreciate it.

I have CS but I think the text functions the same.
If you click on the canvas with the text tool it make a text layer.
I wrote LASA then ok'd..(one layer)
Then started typing again below and it makes a second text layer.

then I can move them with the move tool.

Why are you using the selection tool?

If you read my post, you'd know that I wasn't using selection tool. I already know all about text layers; I've been an owner of Photoshop for years. I'm stating that typing text requires me to make a box. Meaning, that thing you called me using a selection tool, is actually me trying to create text. If you'll read my post again, it'll explain the other issues with said box.

Again, I already know all about layers. My issue is this: I simply want to know how you can change the text into normal "click" layer format, rather then box-format.
