Hi everyone, I've just discovered smart objects and have been reading about them and have a question..

All my pictures start off at 4368x2912 at 72ppi (Using a canon 5D)

Let's say I want to make a collage where the background is 18x12 at 300ppi. Now I want to put 4 6x4 pictures in it to make a collage.

Which method would give me better results in regards to sizing my 4 6x4 pictures to fit into the collage.

1. If I were to change my image size by going to Image -> Image size and changing the width and height to 6x4 and resamplig at 300ppi (300ppi to match the ppi of the background) This is the way I've always done it.

OR

2. Making my 'insert' pictures smart objects and using the transform handles to 'size down' my picture to 6x4?

Or is there no difference in either method?
