|
|
I just picked up an Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO scanner. My first scans were a 4x6 photo and a bunch of 35mm color negatives, then imported into Adobe Photoshop 5 - an older version. I saved each file as a ".TIFF" and ".PSD" files. My problem occurs when trying to select an area within each file, selecting the entire image to copy into another file - Photoshop won't allow me those options. The only thing I can do with these new scans is make global color adjustments and crop the size. Other info; I'm scanning at 2400dpi - producing 40MB files per image, 48 bits selected, color negatives (using neg holder) have all been selected, I've scanned the neg's using the Epson software and again using the "importing" feature in Photoshop. Any idea where I might be making a mistake??? |

I'm not sure but PS5 might not be able to handle 48bit... can you change to 8bit (Image/mode/8bit, in later PS's)
2400dpi, why so big? Planing to make large copies?
or zoom in on them?

Hi Lasa-thanks for your suggestion. That's exactly what a friend told me this afternoon, take the scan to 8 bits. I'll do it and fill you in. The scans will be used to stitch 8 different 35mm negs together. The resulting image will be printed as a long mural on digitally printed wallpaper, for use in a retail store. Thanks again! |

Thank you - your suggestion worked. Under "Image/Mode" the file had 16bit, I changed it to 8bit and everything is great!
Thanks again,
Bert
