Because of all the in's and out's and fade to black on the right...I would use the quick mask. That way you do it once and right no clean up.

If you type in quick mask in the Photoshop help it give a better description of the tool then I could ever.. or try

The help in PS is very good once you know what you are looking for.
(similar to having to know how to spell a word to be able to look it up in a dictionary to learn how to spell it)
