Ok, I'm not completly new to PS but I can't figure how to do the effect in this image..

If anyone knows how to get that type of image effect it would be helpful. Or atleast lead me into the right direction. Also.. I would like to know how to it in black and white or vice versa. Thanks a ton to whoever can help me.

Select your target layer, and add a Gradient Map adjustment layer. Play around with the existing gradients, or create your own in the editor. Try reversing the gradient for certain combinations.
