I am a pro photographer with basic computer and photoshop skills (mainly skills on cleaning up images and fixing exposure) I shoot a lot of glamour type models against a white background and one of the cool things I could do to these images was apply a Neon Glow filter to them and make them images for windows wallpaper. The white background would turn black and the model would be outlined in a cool looking glow.

Recently my Glow filter quit working right, instead of turning the background black it leaves the background white which of course defeats the purpose of having a glow around the model I dont think its any kind of image problem because I have tried it on the same images that worked correctly in the past.

The only thing I have done to my photoshop install was try out an eye candy filter pack which I have now uninstalled I am using version 8. Is it possible for a filter to become corrupt I have tried rebooting but it didnt help

Thanks
Steve

I'm not sure if im going to totally answer your question. However, I don't think it's the filter. I do however have a simple sollutions.

1. Add a black background and remove the white.
2. Select the part you want to add the glow to using many methods such as the pen tool or the selection tools.

If these do not work correctly then I will have a look at something else because im not a great fan of glows but I think these MAY work. Sure somebody will correct me if im wrong.

The neon glow doesn't do what I think you want done. I think you need the outer glow style.
need to extract the person and then add a outter glow style.
