Greetings,
Is there a way to set Windows Explorer viewing options so that when viewing files in Windows Explorer in the "Thumbnail view", you see the thumbnail of the PSD file rather than the generic/default PSD icon?

Any clue would appreciated. Please, no "should be on a MAC comments..."
;)

Thanks!
Jeff

Strangly adobe removed this function from the later versions, if you have an older version installed (or has been installed) you can usually view the thumbnails. It seems to be a dll file thats needed.
1. Download psicon.dll from

http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files.php/dllfiles/P/psicon.dll/download.html)from DLL Dump

2. Place the DLL in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\
3. Thumbnail previews of PSD files should now show up.

I haven't had to do this myself so I can't honestly say if it will work, it should though. Wayne

Thanks for the reply.
I followed your steps and the solution did not work...

Any other ideas?
Thanks again.

Strange that fix has been around for a while now, it's claimed to work, but obiviously doesn't in all cases.
Other than installing an eaarlier version, I cant think of anything else I'm afraid Jeff.
Try asking around your friends for a copy of element 1 or 2, many people had them with scanners/printers and never installed them, they were even given away with some graphics tablets, it seems if thats been installed you can view the thumbnails, I have never had any problems but started with PS7 on this computer (it's still installed, I never bothered to uninstall when putting on the new version) Sorry the idea didn't work. Thanks again.
This is funny... I found my original version PS 4. Installed it and now the thumbnail icons are the legacy maroon colored "photo" icon with the giant eyeball! I thought it was funny that the icon went backwards in time.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I have PSCS..My thumbnails show up as black boxes..The only cure is to take the file into Image Ready and save it there..Then I can view the files..
