Ok so I was volunteered by a family member to help out her office, lucky me. I am needing to remove a subject form a picture and make the background more professional looking, plus adding text. I think I will be able to add the text pretty easy, but the background this is killing me. I need this done by the end of today or afternoon tomorrow and I am not getting anywhere. I have tried using the eraser tool, and magic wand tool but nothing seems to be going my way. The original background is so similar to the main subject that its erasing it/highlighting it too. Its a laser, so there are many parts and I don't have the patience, nor the slow hand to mouse skills to trace everything. Is there any other option? I am using Adobe Photoshop 7 and Adobe Image ready CS2. All help is greatly appreciated. I have attached the pic I have been working on.
thanks.

Ok it is not to hard. The easiest way I think for you to cut that back ground off is to use a quick mask. First make a new layer of you picture so you don't mess it up: Open the image and look at the top of the photo shop screen. You will see the word "Layer" click it and drop list will have "duplicate layer". Now on your right you have a two little pictures of your lazier in the layers folder. make sure the top picture is clicked. On the tool bar on your left there is a rectangle with a circle in it, there may be two of them. click the one that has the name come up as Quick mask. now you just Paint off the back ground with your paint brush tool. Where you paint should turn Pink if you paint it black and you will see the picture with no pink if you paint white. to switch from white and black push x. When you have the back ground pink push "Q" it will select the image. If it missed part of the lazier just push Q again and fix it with the paint brush. After you have it the way you like it and you have pushed Q to select it, Go to the top of the screen to select and at the bottom of its list you will see save selection you will be asked to name it. it will save the selection in the channels tab on the right side of your screen it is under your layers tab. To take all the back ground out make sure you have your layer that you've been working on selected then, if you are using a Mac hold Apple key and than the J key. On a PC Hold the Alt and J key. This makes a new layer of your picture with no back ground. You can then Click and drag it to another picture using the Move tool Push V to turn on the move tool. Click hold on the little picture of the cut out image and pull it anywhere on the new back ground, let go of the mouse clicker to drop it into the other photo.
