This is really perplexing me. I'm guessing it might be a limitation of the (American?) version of Photoshop CS3 but I can't paste in some simple Hindi (Indian) UTF-8 text.

Basically, I went to Google's translate tool, typed "India" and had it translate it into Hindi from English and it output: भारत. When I copy and paste that into Photoshop, I just get boxes with X's in them. I have no problem copying many other Asian characters like ones from China, Japan, and Korea.

I have a truetype Hindi font called DV_Divyae that is able to output Hindi characters if I type into a text box but if I paste the content from Google, it won't work. Unfortunately, I don't know Hindi so I can't just type it out myself.

Does anyone know why this is or how I might be able to get this to work? Someone must have come across a time when they tried to paste Hindi text into Photoshop--there's over a billion people living there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kyle

I just tried pasting that text into CS4 and it instantly selected Mangal as the font and pasted correctly.
Since this question dates back to April, Im sure the OP will have found out that solution by now though.
