Hello Everyone
I am very new to photoshop and I just downloaded the CS4 trial model to learn it. Well my question is that when I attempt to open a photo, the picture comes up in the little layers window (labeled background) on the right corner but there is no picture on the main screen. Any help on this would be much appreciated. I also want to add that when I use some tool I see the effect of this in that little layers window. I do this by just scribbling in the grey space randomly and it comes up in the little window. So what I think is happening is that photoshop cannot display the large photo for some reason in the main screen
As far as my system specs: I am using Windows Vista x64, 4GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 512MB, and the processor is the Intel 2.83GHz Quad core.
There may be a couple of things in play here. There could be an issue with the image itself. Have you tried opening other images? What happens?
Presuming that the image is OK, you may be in the wrong view mode. If you are in Actual Pixels mode, and it's a large image, you may be looking at only a portion of it. You can grab the hand tool and drag around in the window to see if any part of it appears.
Even easier, just select View|Fit on Screen. No matter what size the image is, PS will scale it to fit within the bounds of the screen so that you can see it.
