im laso-ing a selection and i need to be able to save where the marching ants are so i can upload what i just selected and not have to keep laso-ing it.

Just copy the selection and paste to a new document>Save as.

If I understand you correctly, you want to click Select-Save Selection. Give it a name and save, your selection will be saved as an alpha channel.

When you need it click Select-Load Selection, then choose it by name from the dropdown list.
