Name Slices based on Layer?

For menu rollover graphics... I have one layer that has the 'Off' and one that has the 'On' graphics... Is there anyway to name the slices so that when I am on the 'off' layer the name is 'nav1_off' and when I'm on the 'on' layer the name is 'nav1_on' ?? Seems like this should be possible, but I can't find it... Thx.
