There are a bunch of different ways that people do this. To me, if you are only doing one thing in color and the rest black and white, this is the easiest way I have found to do it.
1. Open up whatever picture you want to use (obvious step haha)
2. Select the polygonal lasso tool
3. Outline what you want to be colored. Don't get lazy in this part. Click every centimeter if you have to. Don't try to just do one long line to get it done quicker. Its easier to do this part if you zoom in.
4. When you are done outlining what you want to stay colored, click Select then Inverse.
5. After you have done this click Image, Adjustments, Desaturation
This should keep what you outlined colored and your backround should be black and white.
Also, the way I told you how to do it is using Photoshop Cs3, I don't know if its the same in the other versions. |

Or you can do it my way
Duplicate the layer for your pic. Desaturate this new layer...Now just erase the now black and white t shirt....the color t shirt will be underneath.
Before...
After....

Either of the methods described will work. If you would like to find other options or actual tutorials, Google "photoshop isolated color" and you'll find all that you could want.

I actually use Ducky's way when I have more than one thing I need colored. I actually did it one time with my way to get more than one thing colored, but totally forgot how to do it afterwards haha go figure right? |
