|
|
Hi, I am an active duty soldier who is starting a new custom knife company. I have drawn up a few sketches that I would like to use as the company logo. Can someone turn these drawings into finished logos? (blank & white and color). These will be used on the website, buiness caeds, and to be laser etched or stanped onto the knife blades. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Also, anyone who may have an idea for a logo, I am certainly open to ideas at this point. |

I'm just playing around for now, Viking, as it's a long time since I've done anything like this (PS4 or 5 - when the only colour mode available was sepia ).
I've started with the simplest one as I'm wondering if the 2 'shield' designs might be too detailed to be etched onto the blades.
If you could photograph a couple of knives the logo could be PS'd as a mock-up to see how they look.
This is more of a web banner than anything else ... |

Crapaud, playing around? That looks amazing to me. absolutely love it. This logo is what will be used on the knife blades. The shields will be for the website and business cards. How you ever did that with the drawing is amazing to me. Cant wait to see what can be done with the shield logo. |

That's probably not the most suitable rendition for etching on a blade. Something simpler as a vector graphic might be better. You'll need to contact whoever's doing the etching to find out what's possible and which file formats are suitable. Links to examples would be helpful.
Been working on the shield and have the basic shapes now, so there's a lot that can be changed. I did it with layer effects for quickness, but a final would probably be better with lighting effects.
I'll say it again: design's not my forte, so if anyone wants to critique, make suggestions, whatever feel free to say so.
I've got a thick skin. |

I like that rendition of the shield. The layout is really cool. I have been 50/50 on which helmet to go with. Any ideas about the helmet type? |

I've had a quick look around the internet for ideas, Viking. One thing I do know is that viking helmets didn't have horns or wings.
There's a lot of brilliant viking art out there. Some is a bit like celtic knotwork. You could have a search about and see what you think. There's also stock photo sites with illustrations. This might be a good way to go to save any problems with copyright.
Vector graphic or line artwork would be best. |

As I mentioned celtic knotwork, I remembered some that I'd done ages ago and wondered how it would look.
As before, I've not taken a lot of care - you can see the flaws easily - it's just to show an idea. I'm reluctant to put a lot of work into something until we've got a better idea of what we're aiming for. |

Crapaud, I have also noticed on the web that viking helmets did not have horns. What I am looking for in a nutshell is a logo that represents the robust and simple nature of our knives. A knife you can depend on regardless of the task. The Viking helmet with horns is just something that is commonly associated with the viking and is easy to recognise. I am certainly not stuck on the helmet, and do like some of the viking artwork as well. I like the first logo you did alot, as it reflect robust and simple to me. Is there any way I can see that in colors that would match the web banner you did? Also, maybe with the other style helmet for comparison? Thanks a bunch, and great looking work!! |
