I've got a layer with applied layer styles to it, i'm drawing stars (using noise, gaussian blur, layer adjustments and brightness/saturation) but i want to make it so the layer styles are applied permanently so i can edit them as i would the layer itself.

How can i do this?

The only way i've found is to make another empty layer and just merge the two so it becomes flat but i'm sure there must be a better way?
