Here is what I did so far. I have a concert shirt that was ripped and had it put away for years. It is a black shirt with white print. I am planning on screening the image on other shirts. I scanned the shirt to a TIFF image and inverted the image so I can burn it into the emulsion on the screen. When I had the picture done, I noticed the scan picked up a lot of specs and the texture of the shirt. I just wanted to be able to get rid of all the specs and texture in the black and white. I would appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Always hard to pick the best approach without seeing the image but...If the letters are white, it sounds like you could just select them and copy them to their own layer. Try using the magic wand for each letter set add to selection and contiguous.

I'll get another image scanned, the files I made are 23 megabytes and above. I don't think I can get them up here.

Hey screaminkid,

You could upload them to a file host and post links. :) Welcome aboard!

Aa lower resolution copy should be adequate to advise you on what technique might work best.

Sorry I took so long in posting this! I am in the final stages of moving and waiting for the cable and internet to be hooked up. Okay, I am going to attach an image. Once I am able to get this right, I am going to invert it to make a silk screen.

Sorry it wasn't bigger...

First I converted the image mode to color rgb (greyscale would work too).

Made the BG layer a normal layer. Used the magic wand set to 50% Tolerance/Contiguous and selected the black. Then deleted the selection (black). Reversed the selection, and filled it with white.

Only took about a minute to do this.

Thanks so much for the tips. I was trying different controls out today and tried the wand, but i was going at it the hard way. I knew there had to be an easier way.

Thanks again!
