Sorry for the potentially silly question. I just bought Photoshop, but the issue I'm having is that every time I go to add a text block to an image, a new layer is created. I want to be able to manually create layers and simply click on the layer I want to work under and then do so. I want to shut off this automatic creation of layers. If I don't, I'll have about 200 superfluous ones.

The Adobe Help was, ironically, no help and there were no options under Preferences that I could see.

Ideas?

When you create a new text block, Photoshop will automatically create a new text layer to accommodate it.

Hope this helps

Also, if you really are adamant about keeping it "clean" then I would suggest rasterizing the text layers (right click the layer and hit rasterize) and then merge all your text layers together. You won't be able to edit them afterwards (meaning change the font and whatnot) but at least it'll be "clean".

My suggestion: Get used to it.
