how to save as a normal png instead of photoshop png

i am using a macbook pro and cs2. whenever i try to save a png picture, it saves it as an adobe photoshop png, which is annoying because eachtime i want to open it, it opens in photoshop instead of preview. is there anyway to make it save as just a normal png instead of a photoshop png? thanks
