I am trying to make an image with some text and some doodling, but I'd like to have the background transparent, so when I put it on my website that the image's background color takes the web page's background color.
Is there any way to do this? Thank you in advance.

yes, if you have finished your work and are happy with it, click on the background layer, make sure it's a layer, select the background with your magic wand and hit delete, so your background should be transparent now.
Then save as GIF, like this one

That did work, with deleting the background layer, but then when I saved it as a GIF, the quality of the image was terrible. There is text in the image, and when I saved it as a GIF, the text was almost unreadable. What could be causing this??
