Hi

I'm fairly new to CS4 but I cant seem to get the gradient tool to work as I would like.

I basically have a large rectangular box I want to start with a solid colour to the right of the box / page then gradually fade out to the left until the background comes through.

OK I select the gradent tool -- - linear gradient.

Select my colour

Load a pre-set gradient which shows the foreground blending into the background.

Now my problem is when I drag the gradient line the fill is not even it seems to fill the top right of the box heavier then the bottom right of the box (top right darker, bottom right lighter) resulting in a uneven blend from foreground to background.

How do make a even gradient - solid colour to the right all the way down the right hand side of the box with the gradient moving to the left slowly fading into the background ??

Hold down the shift key as you apply the gradient to keep it straight.

Hi again Hawkeye !!

I've already tried using the shift key although this keeps the line straight the fill is still uneven (heavy to the top right and less on the bottom left)

Start the Gradient drag either more on or more off your canvas.
