i am new to photoshop and have d/l the 30 day free trial of photoshop elements 7. i am in the USMC in the reserves and during boot camp, i was really sick with pnemoniua and looked horrible. as is my luck, they took our boot camp pics were taken while i was sick. i want to change my pic and add weight to my face so it doesnt look so horrible. i literally look like i belong in a camp during nazi germany, its that bad and ive been looking at these pics for 2.5 yrs now. how do i add weight to pics? i know ppl take weight away to make ppl skinny etc so im sure i can add to it instead but i do not know how. any help would be greatly appreciated. i can send the pic as well if anyone owuld like ot tackle this for me. either way i would be greatly appreciative. thank you in advance for any help that is provided.

hi,
just a novice myself... but have you tried to use the liquidfy filter?
now a lot of times you hear about it being used in fashion magazines to make the gals look thinner, stupid i think.. smiling, any way there many ways to use.... include enlarging/stretching areas..... or filling out a person face, making then people look fat, etc....

now these 2 tutorials, one give you an idea of different uses.....

http://yanikphotoschool.com/tutorials/video_tutorials/photoshop-video-tutorial-fun-with-the-liquify-tool/

this other is it goes thru (explains) the features and use of the filter!!
http://www.photoshoptalent.com/photoshop-tutorials/video/840/Introducing-Liquify-in-photoshop.html

depending on the image ... you may need to either put your self on a seperate layer or mask off certain areas.......

also with something like this your thinking.. to make it appear more naturl do it in creaments....!! ie... instead of trying to gain 20 pounds with one swipe of the brush do in 3 or 4 pound increments.... untill you reach that 20 pound look... it will look more realistic... too much at one time can make it look a bad photoshopped!!

well i hope that helps your... there tons of tutorials on liguidfy filter... good luck and have fun

Your task is a little tough. I did something like what you're describing about 2 years ago, but my goal was to make myself look hideous, so I hope this method does not do the same for you.

What I did was i found a part that i wanted to change, lets say a cheek, and i'd select it. Copy and paste it, making it a new layer.I'd then transform it (Ctrl+T), and I'd go to warp (the wavy dude up on the top towards the right of the bar. I'd then pull the cheek out so it looks right, gave me more weight. I'd then go through with a soft eraser on a low opacity, and brush it around edges, so that it blends into the face more. if you've got lighting problems, that'll be harder to fix, you'll have to use either dodge/burn, or paint the fix in. If you're a little confused about what I've suggested, then don't worry about lighting fixes. Any questions, just message me, I'd be glad to help! Have a good time.
