I sure hope someone can help me! My livelihood depends on my access to Photoshop and I can't get it in it right now!

I'm running Photoshop Elements 5.0. Everything was working fine til this mornin. I've had the program for about a year now. When I tried to open it this morning I got this error message that popped up.

It says:
Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.

I've tried repairing the program. That didn't work. Restarted my computer. That didn't work. Uninstalled the program and tried opening it again. That didn't work. I'm at a loss! I really need to get into my program b/c my work is there. I tried opening some of my files (they are located in my Pictures folder) and they pop up with the same message.

What else can I try or do? Anyone have this issue? Please help me! I'm desparate!

Thanks.
Becky

Hey Becky,

Sure sounds like you've tried the lot.

My advice would be to uninstall Elements, and then run the following script from the Adobe website -

http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html

This will clean your system of all Photoshop related system files. I know it's written for CS3, but I've heard that it works with other apps (although I haven't tried it myself). Run the script and then try cleaning the rest of your system (defrag, virus scan, deleting temp files etc). Then reinstall Elements.

Good luck

well funnily enuf i got this message recently for CS3 and all you have to do is uninstall the program from the hard drive. Clean all of its components from that drive.
ONce thats dun get a removable hard drive or install a new hardrive. it doesnt have to be that big and then install photoshop on that hard disk.
you can get a new hard drive for about a tenner on ebay or somfin la.
good luck and if u have ne questions just ask

BEFORE uninstalling.....Try setting your cumputer back to it's last snap shot....periodically your computer takes a snap shot of your entire system in case a driver or something as equally important gets deleted which is what sounds like happened to your photoshop...a driver somehow got deleted...
Ayway, it's super easy...
Go to programs.....then accesories.....then system tools...then click on system restore..Follow the directions
Do this first and see if that corrects the problem...and don't forget to reboot after system restore should it not prompt you.
