I don't want to discourage too much, but try to move away from the stock effects and tutorials and branch out into your own creativity, you seem ready for it, as you have adapted a few tutorials already.

yeah i know there's not realy something stunning with it but i was out of inspiration! 
not all of the images area based on a tutorial, just the blue planet and the lightning behind the strange eye! the rest was my own idea!

Right. Play with that one, because the tentacles don't look "attached" to the body, and neither does the eye.

i like the second last one...its a nice looking design for a logo...actually....im looking for a logo for a band called Sinners Inc...do you think you could make something similar to your second last image,
in black and red????...if you can that would be cool.

I think the concepts are fine.
