Hi, first of all let me say I'm not sure if this is the correct location for this question as this is my first post.
Adobe has just made available for free the older CS2 suite of software so it is an excellent opportunity for me to download and start 2013 learning how to use said software instead of complaining to developers that they haven't created icons.
I need to know which packages, namely Photoshop or and illustrator etc will allow me to quickly remove the colour from standard Windows icons images to create flat white clipart silhouettes to overlay on a minimum of a 150x150 pixel Windows 8 Metro tiles graduated in various single colours to be consistent with existing tiles?
Initially this task should be easier as I just need to create JPEG image files for a android theme customisation program called "Desktop Visualizer" which helps you mimic the Windows 8 Metro tile desktop on android tablets.
But eventually I want to change all my windows 7/8 OS icons as well as there never seems to be enough or the correct icons for my apps list.
Also if it's not too much trouble can somebody give me the correct Adobe software program steps to quickly automate the following actions:
#1. Highlight the icon image that is high-resolution so as to produce high quality one white-colour clip art with transparent areas to show the colour tile background which I believe is needs to be a vector or raster to scale up cleanly to 150x150?
#2. Once cropped in high-resolution then remove the colours to create a white silhouette of the icon image (I only use dark themes backgrounds due to visual impairment).
#3. Would I need to unlock the layers of the original icon to do any of the above if so how do I do that (am I allowed to do that considering the intellectual property rights etc, even though it's for private use only)?
I did a extensive Google search and a quick search on this forum for "Windows 8 Metro UI tile clipart creation". There was this one online tool, but it was the same old story there was a limited number of clipart icon images to choose from.
But as I want to learn rather than having an online tool do the job for me, I came here because I didn't see any tutorials or posts with those search phrases in so if anybody can point me in the right direction I would be grateful?
Sorry for the first post beinga long one and any help much appreciated. |
