Hey guys, this is my first post on here so thanks in advance for any replies. Much appreciated. I know the basics of masking and I know how to go about it several different ways. I have a picture of a soccer team here standing in front of a soccer field. I am wanting to mask the background completely out and put a custom background I have created in its place. I can do this with good results but it takes me about 30-40 minutes to complete. My question to you photoshop wizards is how can I cut my time down to around 10 minutes or less. I typically use quick mask when creating my mask but doesnt always select just the people due to my random backgrounds. I was wondering if there was a faster way to do it by using channels or color range. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hi,
If i wanne cut out items / persons from a picture i use the "Magic wand tool"(W)
It works good as long as the contrast between the item / person and the background is big enough. On the places where it isn`t you can use the pen tool to make a selection and delete the background on that way.
If you need more info let me know
