Hey guys-
I've searched here and the web and can't seem to find a legit answer that works perfectly.
I'm trying to center a copy of a layer to the layer below WITHOUT that layer moving at all. I know I can align it to the top, left, right, or bottom without the target layer shifting, but as soon as you try to center-align, it wants to move. In the attached, you can see what I mean; I need the "Old Piece" to keep an absolute locked position where it is on the canvas, and align the "New Piece" layer to it.
I know I can move and snap to the guides to get close, but I'm trying to batch/automate the process. I've tried both locking the position of the target layer, and completely locking the layer itself, but neither works. You'd think Adobe would have this figured out by now, huh?!
