Ok so i am new to these forums and i joined because i love using photoshop but i got into photoshop to edit a very old photo, this photo is really old it was taken in around 1910 in south england it is a photo of family members long passed and has not been kept very well by my mother it was found in a box in the attic, and i have been trying to restore it so i could get a better looking version of it to mabye blow up and hang on the wall, unfortunatly the photo is so old and damaged i thinks it is a bit beyond my photoshop skills at the moment (still trying to learn ) so i thought if anyone better than me with photoshop has some spare time, maybe they wouldnt mind taking a crack at it. If you do decide to have a go at it if you would be so kind as to e-mail me any attempts you make on it would be much appreciated e-mail any fiished product to alex_greg6@hotmail.com Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to try i think it wud be a nice little challenge :P Thanks.

Hi Lamnia and welcome to the forums. Your photo seems to have been scanned rather poorly (not neccesarily your fault), it looks more like a newspaper clipping because of the half-tone pattern. Is there any way that you could re-scan or get it scanned for you? It's possible to work on what you have now, but the final outcome may dissapoint.

If the source photo is alright, you may consider drum scanning at a reprographic house, it would cost, but the overall quality of the photo would be kept. There is also the option of taking a high quality photograph of your photo with a modern dslr camera under proper lighting conditions (in RAW preferably).
