Someone said that photoshop causes blurring when used for text in the printing stage on a cd cover. Is that a serious problem?

How do I check to see if jpg images have been saved at a resolution of 300 dpi?

What if my original jpg image resolution is less than 300 dpi and I require 300 dpi; Is it possible to resave them to a smaller image size and in doing so increase the dpi?

What if a jpg image says it is ‘.jpg @ 25%RGB’ and I am supposed to save the files in CMYK; What is this ‘Mode’ setting and can it be changed through resaving the jpg somehow, or is it changed to CMYK when you open it in Photoshop and choose CMYK in the'Rasterize Generic PDF Format' window?
I am using XP and Photoshop 7.

allrighty.

answer number one: don't worry about it. Grab your text toola nd then select your text layer. In hte top bar of photohsop, there shoudl be a drop-down box with a little "aa" symbol beside it. This adjusts the "antialiasing" which essentially blurs the edges of your text so that it dones't appear pixely. Select whichever option looks best, but do not selset "none".

answer two: opne you jpeg, the go to image | image size. THe littel box wil apear... somewhre it should say resolution: 300 pixels/inch

answer three: Yes. Technically. But it won't help so don't do it. It will still look just as bad or possibel worse than if you siply print it as it is. if you htinka bout it, you have , say, X amount of pixels which print at Y inches size. So if you increase your pixels/inch, you'll decrese you Y inches size. Then you'll have to scale it up to print, and the end result isn't any better.

You can resave your jpg, but it would be better to open your PSD and change itt o CMYK and then save over the jpg. regardles, when th RGC image is open, go to image | mode | CMYK color Your assumptions aboutt he PDF conversion sound accurate to me.
