I need to use masking/layers to color in some kyaks. I'm at a total loss and my brain hurts. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I made a solid colored layer panel but can't figure out how to color in the three kyaks that are currently gray. I need to specifically use layers/masks to do it.

Welcome to the forum.
It may help us to say what colours you want to produce. My first instinct would be to go to LAB and not RGB (In truth I can't say without knowing the overall colours).
