No clue why this happens (happens to me too!), but pressing ctrl + 0 (zero), or double click the hand tool, or go to View>Fit on screen will fix it. It will put the image back into your working sp ... |

Agreed, scan the document and save it on your hard drive. As a "safety precaution", I'd save it again as a #2, so if you named your first scan "scanned photos" then your second on ... |

Steve, Adobe don't recomend using a partioned drive for the scratch disk, it means that it might try to read/write 2 areas of the same drive at the same time (not good), you could use a partioned area ... |
