I have looked at previous post but have not found the answer I am looking for. I need to remove a white background from a PS file that is just text. Calendar of 2006, actually. Need the text placed on a different background.
Thanks,

Here's what I would do. Press ctrl-A to select the whole document. Go Edit>Copy. Now find your Channels palette and click the New Channel button at the bottom. Click the thumbnail of the new channel and go Edit>Paste. Hit ctrl-I to invert the colors, making white into black and vice versa. Ctrl-click the channel's thumbnail, and you should see a selection of the text. Back on your Layers palette, create a new layer and fill the selection with black. Now you can place your background layer below that.
Hope this helps! Let me know if any part of that was confusing. _________________ Interested in showcasing your special effects or learning some new ones from the masters? Check out PSFX! |

Or you could double click the background layer on the layers palette to unlock it, then click on the white with the magic wand to select it and hit delete. Wayne |

Glad to hear it! Good luck with your project.
Your technique works, too, swanseamale47, but it can look messy sometimes. I prefer the alpha channel method because it's usually truer to the original appearance and it's easier to clean up. But either method works. _________________ Interested in showcasing your special effects or learning some new ones from the masters? Check out PSFX! |

what about "blend if?" in the blending options. if something is just solid black and white, that's the quickest way I've found. _________________ brush your hair and comb your teeth |
