Hi, I'm trying to create selections with paths. No problem working it all out, but when I click on the work path in paths window, and right click make selection, I'm often ending up with a shape in the middle of the selection. Most frustrating! It doesn't always seem to do it but can't work out why or how to stop it! Help! I've attached 2 images to show what I mean, selection made then shape in middle of selection, then shows shape once selection is deleted. I'm creating the path with the pen tool.

Whilst on the Pen tool look at the context sensitive menu and choose the right path operations, some older versions look slightly different but all contain the same options.

And I can only answer your question, when I have logged into the forum, so a little patience wouldn't go amiss ;)

Thank. Have tried a few different options. It's different on my version but there is Subtract from Path area which I selected. No difference, same thing.
I might point out, there is only 1 selection too, not multiple sections. I'm at a complete loss where the shape in the middle is coming from.

And this is what I'm trying to select before the shape appears for no reason in the middle. I'm thinking there might actually be a bug in my version of photoshop. I've followed all the tutorials on path selections exactly and I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.
