Welcome to the forum! The best advice I can give you is first learn about your tools. Find out what they can do...You can find this out by simply googling (name of tool tutorial) this will tell you what the tool is used for and give examples as to how it is used.
After you've learned about your toosl, start doing tutorials on different text effects....photo effects...etc...Have an idea? Simply google for a tutrorial on it.
I cannot tell you how beneficial tutorials are. There is simply nothing you cannot do in photoshop!!!
Good luck and I can't wait to see some of your work! Big Wink

I agree with Melanie "Ducky" on that one. Google everything. If you have an idea for something you want to try out, find a tutorial on it, because the only way anyone will learn anything is if they are interested in it.

If you are really serious about learning major tips and tricks about PS, buy a book or magazine about it. They have some very helpful tips and it is easy to look back if you forget or need a refresher.

Some of my favorite sites that feature beginner tutorials are:

http://psdtuts.com/
