Hello there everyone. New member here. Looking forward to meeting and greeting everyone here!
I am currently working on the cover of a pulp hero story I'm writing and I thought it would be interesting to have his name have the patterns of the British Flag.
How would I go about doing so? So far I've the flag.jpg set up, right? I then make a 2nd layer with the words Union Jack (he's based on an old Marvel Comics hero) over said flag. And this is where I'm stumped. What's the next step? Btw, I am using PS 7. Any advice

Open your flag image (double click the little pic on the layers palette to make it a "proper" layer) now on the text tool click the hozisontal type mask tool, pick your font and size and type on the flag, once you have the words done click any of the selection tools marquee etc, this turns your type into a selection, now on the layers palette click the layer mask option and your left with just the letters. Now open your background image (the beach here) and drag it on top of your letters. now on the layers palette just drag the small beach pic below the letters pic, it will then appear as the background with the letters on top see pic. Another method is to type out your text, and in the layer palette drag the text layer below the flag layer, now highlight the flag layer in the layers palette. Press Cmd+G (Ctrl+G on PC) and this will create a clipping mask (called Group with Previous in PS7). The beauty of this is the text is still fully editable (for font, size, etc.). To undo the mask press Shift+Cmd+G (Shift+Ctrl+G for PC).
