Hello everyone!! I'm new too this site but i'm no stranger to PS. I'm no expert but i know my way around it pretty well.

I took a picture of my sister at her wedding and i would liek to do something nice for her.

She had 2 bouquets of flowers placed on her veil and posed for a picture.
I want to keep the flowers pink and make the rest of the photo black and white. I've been all over the web reading tutorias but i'm not exactly sure what this is called so i dont know what i'm looking for.

THis may help if i confused anyone. I want to keep the rims and mirror the same color but change everythign else B&W.

thansk alot.

Well one quick and dirty method could be to select the rims with a marquee tool, or lasso etc.. invert the selection, then convert the selected area to B&W

Same steps for the flowers.
I'm no PS expert so that's all I can offer...

My problem comes in with me having to select more than one item. would i have to each one on its own layer?

If you keep the shift pressed when you go to your new item, it will be added to your selection.

Hope this helps..

Create a Channel Mixer adjustment layer above the original color image. Check the Monotone checkbox and play with the color channel sliders to get the grayscale the way you want it (Channel Mixer makes much richer grayscale images). In the mask area of the adjustment layer, paint with black over the areas of the image you still want in color. This will punch out that area of the adjustment layer's mask, so the flowers will be in color.

it actually could be simply edit>fill, then set the layer to a low opacity and using the eraser at normal opacity erase the black covering the rear view mirror, then turn opacity back and set layer to color or hue to make it black and white

Duplicate layer. Desaturate bottom layer. Create layer mask on top layer (coloured pic) Make sure black is the foreground colour. Paint area that you want B/W. That’s it!
