I just noticed, I know most things except this which should be elementary, i fell fairly Dumb so can anyone assist my plea for help!? it would be much appreciated! i just have moved one picture on top of another, and i need it to show itself casting the pictures shadow, thx!

I think you're talking about Drop Shadow:
Layer > layer style > drop shadow
