My boss has asked me to remove the portico house that is behind this group photo of the team for our website, so that the background is just sky & tree's. Its been a few days now of me stuffing around with this & I desperately need some advice now.. Can anyone help me?
Not new to photoshop but I'm new to this forum

I have found that the "extract" filter is best for this kind of operation.
Simply trace around the objects you need to retain.
Hope this helps.
anyone else?

If you use the extract filter, it's best to create a duplicate layer first just in case the extract filter removes some details that should remain. Then you can brush the missing detail through a mask from the duplicate layer.
Personally, I would take the time to crop using the pen tool, turn the path into a selection and then create a mask (also duplicate the layer or rename the background layer to something else.
