well like mentioned above, each time I make the simplest adjustment. For ex. increasing contrast, and then when I go to save my image, the image file doubles (a 3mb photo after increased contrast becomes 6 mb) and sometimes just from simple manipulation the file reaches 15 mb. Now, I know its a problem because I always saved with photoshop but the files never reached such sizes. I save under JPEG, and "standard". I'm thinking maybe something happened that I cant think of along the way, maybe some settings were changed. But theres nothing I can think of. Or is this normal...

hi,
like the thehermit mentioned it sort of normal for psd file grow in size...

keep in mind...
1. every time you add a layer weather it a dup layers or adjustment layers, your increaing the size to the amount of what the backgroundlayer size is!!!ie: if oringial image is 1 meg and you add 2 layers it will be apx 3 megs ....
2. also the psd file will contain data on what things you have done besides adding layers.. and that adds to the size...
example if you have history log activatad it maybe put into your metadata of your psd file ..

3. now when you save to a jpg file, (dpending if you have changed the quality settings) layers are flaten and unneeded data is thrown out hence your jpg file will be appx the same as you had before ..

well that my thoughts...
