Can anyone PLEASE Help me regarding Selecting a Computer System for print production designig. I have just jumped from TV medium to Print.
What all - Proccessor, RAM, Hard Disk, Graphic card, scanners are Fatsest & Best suitable for Designing jobs for Print production.
Such as Print jobs of 10 x 10 feet & brochure designs at 300 Dpi. So that files open & save really fast.
Professionally what configuration is used while designing Large Flexboards say 10x10 feet.
Please Give me some advice how to select system or tell me on which all systems you people are working. |

No matter what you do, you'll never get a system to open a 10x10 foot 300dpi print file to open "fast". But there are certainly systems that are better equipped to handle that sort of activity.
Is this your business that your starting?
What is your budget?

you mean designing or actual printing? i've a got a dual 2 ghz mac g5, it is wicked fast, 2gbb of ram, i can open files super fast, if you look at my sig and go to my art gallery i can open all those files really really fast, most aren't 300dpi but some are, read some reviews on this computer is the fastest ur gonna get, however budget would be the main issue

Initially i'll start up with A4 size designing but later on say after 6 months or so i'll grab a Larger designs. So i wanna be pepared with that System.
What will the best in PC. Dual processor or single will do. Please Advice |

Well, there's a couple of roads you can take with this one. You can build your own system or you can buy a packaged one from Dell for instance. Neither is better than the other, but building your own system gives you a little more control on what you want in the system. Most of the time the most expensive is going to be the best, but that is not always true (especially with computer processors these days).
Answer these questions and I can help you more:
Do you want to make your own system? (more product control)
Do you want to buy one from a company like Dell? (FAR better warranty and support, while still getting a powerful machine.)
What is your budget? (I need to know your budget to price some stuff out.)
Are you using PC for sure? Or can you use Mac? (Like Tidal said, mac will be the best for design. It is the industry standard, as well as VERY expensive.)

First of all thanks a lot for support buddy. well i'll definately go for assembled PC coz i don't have heavy budget. I even made an inquiry with intel, they recommended 925, 865 ,875 chipsets. one thing i want to find very desparately, Tellme how about Dual xeon or ordinary Intel processors. will it help in opening & saving files real fast & smoother running. some guys told me these server boards are for heavy traffic, hosting & streaming. Normally you won't find any drastic change in sytem speed while working on it. I am confused. now even new components are in the market. Intel has changed AGP to PCi Express, SD to DDR & DDR2. Please help me man. I just want Photoshop to work like Real faassssssssst at 300 dpi. That's it......................Help me Oybro |

hah , well i have no clue which one should be the quickest however i'm sure once you choose one you can read reviews on it and normally they show how fast it is in photoshop
