Basically, I don't know how to handle channels. For instance, last night I did a calculation to an image IMAGE > CALCULATIONS. There's the option at the bottom of the calculations window to save the change as "New document", "New Channel", or "selection". When I save the change under "new channel", it appears in the channels tab under Alpha1.
My problem is that I don't know how to apply this change in the channel to the actual image. For example, when I save the image as a jpeg, the changes that I made in the channel don't show up in the saved jpeg.
Basically, I would like the new channel to be saved as a layer so that I can do work on the image after I add a new channel.

Make sense? I hope!

Thanks
