hello people!
i was using photoshop 7 MiddleEast version previously then i installed the newer version ps CS Middle Eastern version...
i have recently made 8 psd files from ps7 ME but when i opened them in psCS ME this message appears
"Could not complete your request because the layer is not a valid text layer."
then when you click OK the file does not open and i can't edit my files.
but this problem is not true to all 8 psd files... 3 of them can be opened in psCS without any problems.
can anybody help me out with this problem?

Between the 8 files are you using any fonts? If so list them like this:
psd1 - arial, verdana, and times new roman
psd2 - arial
psd2 - verdana and times new roman
so on and so on. And then which files are you having trouble with?

oybro,
yes. i've been using fonts. i only used 2 types of font for all the 8 psd files. that's arial and bankgothic light.
i was just wondering how come i can open 3 of the files and the other 5 just gives me the error message i posted previously when i only used the same fonts? btw, its the same error message for all the 5 psd files that can not be opend.
i hope we can solve this one.
thanx in advance.

Maybe CS is having trouble recognizing those fonts. I don't think that's the problem though because you would have noticed not being able to use two of your fonts.
CS may also be recognizing the fonts as a different name, like BankGothic Light as opposed to bankgothic lt. Can you make new psd files with the fonts you listed?
If you still have PS7 try making a test file with those fonts and then opening it in CS.
You may just need to reinstall CS. I've never heard of this problem especially that it gives you that error and the file doesn't open. It should at least open the file and signify that the text layer is busted in some way. It might just be a bug in the ME edition.
Also if you want you can send me one of your problem psd's and I'll see if it works on my CS copy. (bryan@oybro.com)
Let me know.

Ok I just got it. When I opened the file, I got the message you described. This is a common error message. Photoshop is just asking you to update your text layers. Did the message you receive look like the one I've attached? If it is, when you click update the file opens with no problems. Let me know.

That message is just telling you that you don't have the correct fonts and that the outlines of those fonts will have to be converted to another font to be displayed in PS.

Yeah, it won't necessarily choose a different font though. If you have the font it will just re-apply that font.
