This is definantly a scratch disk problem. You have your scratch disks all on the same drive, which isn't a good idea. There are two ways to chnge this: 1. get partition magic, or 2. Uninstall your computer and re-install using the advanced reinstallation, and create a new partition that way.
What you need is another partition to put your scratch disks on. |

Try edit>preferences>general and untick save palette location (if it's ticked) this should restore it if it's got dragged off screen. If not pressing alt+ctrl+shift immediatly after starting PS will give you reset options. Wayne |

Can you explain the scratch disc thing? I don't really understand what it is and why the need to do a partition.
Also...if you partition your disc, can you do this without data loss (or would you be in effect wiping clean and restarting?) |

Partitions are what your scratch disks are stored on. Think of it as a folder in which your scratch disk is held. If this folder (partition) is on drive c:, then you may experience problems due to everything being on the same drive. This happened to me recently but with the blending options panel, wasn't fun.
What you need is a defferent partition on a different drive. This will help photoshop run a lot for smoothly.
Also, You may want to go to edit>preferences>memory and image cache
and lower the memory usage of photoshop to around 20.
But in order to cure you of your partition woes, you need a new partition.
Remeber, either get partition magic, or just uninstall then reinstall using the advanced installation and create a new partition that way. |
