I am trying to learn Photoshop cs4. I have no previous experience with any version. I am reading and watching videos, etc. Now I know I should have started with the book "photoshop for dummies". I am trying to learn layers and selection tools. I am using the lasso tools, but don't know how to turn them off when I finished selecting what I want. I end up with selections everywhere. Thank you for the help.

Ctrl+D (Cmd+D on the Mac) will deselect. Also, make sure you have the "New selection" icon clicked on the Options Bar (the bar below the menu bar).

Thx Blue Lobster. I knew it would be something simple that I was missing. The 2 books I am reading takes some things for granted that I should already knew. There are so many "keyboard shortcuts" that I am having a difficult time finding the right one when I need it. Thanks again

Hi Fran. If you want to see a list of all the shortcuts that ship with CS4 hit Ctrl+Shift+Alt+K. It's really worth a look every so often.

Haha, I find that funny. There's a keyboard shortcut for viewing the keyboard shortcuts.

:)

Hopefully when you use it, you don't rip a hole in the space time continuum or something.
