ahhh, I was using a tablet instead of a mouse, I just swapped back to a mouse and guess what....it's now working!!!

Very strange, I'm not sure why this would happen. Thank you for your time in try ...

To be honest I think there maybe an error in my software as I just checked out youtube tutorials and what you have said should work but it isn't working on mine?

Hi yes, I have the first box selected but it's not letting me just select an area?? very frustrating! thanks for your help though

Sure, what I mean is that when the marquee tool is selected, I click on an area of the photo and a selection appears from the top left hand corner to the area I have clicked on, but what I want to do ...

Hi, I'm a new user to CS4 after the massive jump from Photoshop 6! I am trying to use the marquee tool as a free form selection but it seems locked. Does anybody know how to 'unlock' it.
