Any Solutions please?
OS Vista
Photoshop CS3
Photoshop CS3 was all working so well until it stopped opening PSD format files that I had previously created.
I can open a JPG file but not a PSD file.
When I open a PSD file I get a messgae box "Could not complete your request because of a Program Error"
THe CLUE..
If I create a NEW USER ACCOUNT in widows VISTA, photoshop opens the same PSD files correctly.
Therefore there must be something wrong with files associated with MY windows user account.
I have looked at, and compared, user account files associated with Photoshop, even tried replacing the photoshop related files in my user account with those from the new user account.
Without success.
Anyone know where else Photoshop might store files that relate to individual users?
Or any other info on fixing the problem (Yes I could just create a new account!) |

Yes, Uninstalled and reinstalled.
The installation must be OK as it works from another windows user account, I presume the problem must be with files associated ONLY with My user account.
Such files are often left behind after an uninstall. This is why I tried copying the unique Photoshop files from the New user account to My user account. That did not solve the problem.
Maybe Photoshop data unique to My user account is hidden elsewhere?
I could just create a new user account and use that, but that means I have to copy stuff like email accounts etc too.
Understanding the problem and finding a solution is the best way, then if the problem repeats it can be cured again.
I did nothing out of the ordinary to create the problem - I was editing and saving PS images. Turned off PC. Turned on PC, and PS stopped opening the .PSD images I was working on! |

I thought I had solved this by deleting the user account configuration. But now find more problems.
I can open some PSD files but not others. Ones I can't open from my account I can open from the new user account!
If I open ones from my account, when I save them I cant reopen them
More investigation required! |
